Why Speech Therapy?
It is common for people with concussion/traumatic brain injury (TBI) to struggle with thinking skills (cognition).
Common areas of difficulty include the following:
• Speed of processing
• Attention
• Memory
• Problem solving/reasoning
• Time management/productivity
• Organization
• Verbal fluency
• Cognitive endurance
• Return to work
An SLP who is trained in concussion/TBI can help.
I am a Speech Language Pathologist, Advanced Concussion Clinician and a Certified Brain Injury Specialist through the Brain Injury Association of America.
I have been an SLP for over 13 years and have experience in the hospital setting, home health, in-patient rehabilitation, and in the out-patient clinic setting.
My mission is to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care, education and advocacy for those who are struggling with cognitive-linguistic challenges following their injuries.
I strive to make the therapy process functional and meaningful for each individual, and to equip each client with education, tools, and strategies that can help them in returning to activities that are important to them as quickly as possible.
Located in the Portland metro area, Telehealth and in-home visits are both available.
In addition to the TBI/concussion focus, I treat other diagnoses that include stroke, Parkinson's disease, mild cognitive impairment, ALS, voice disorders, swallow disorders, and more.
Forensic speech language pathology services available upon request.
